Expera Specialty Solutions in Kaukauna, Wisconsin was looking for a new sealing solution for the bearing housing of their GE HV 1288 electric motor. This electric motor was placed in a steamy place in the mill and had trouble with water entering the bearing housing and contaminating the grease lubrication, leading to early failures. The factory installed labyrinth isolators were allowing water to enter through it's leak path.
In 2017, the mill specified Isomag bearing isolators to completely seal the bearing housings to increase the mean time between failures. Since this installation, Internation Paper has been using Isomag bearing isolators throughout other areas in the mill, ensuring a positive sealed bearing housing and increased reliability and performance.
