Isomag bearing isolators solve contamination issues for slurry pump applications in the bauxite/aluminum industry. Noranda Alumina, in Gramercy, Louisiana was having bearing contamination issues on their Lawrence FLS 6000 slurry pumps. The default labyrinth type isolators were allowing dirt and water to reach the bearing oil decreasing the MTBR of the pump. This lead to customer concerns about frequent rebuilds.
The solution was to replace the default isolators with Isomag’s magnetic face seals. Isomags create a positive, liquid-tight seal, eliminating ingress of slurry and water, and keeping the bearing lubrication pristine in these harsh environments.
